Manny “Packman” Pacquiao Wins Again

Last night I asked my nephew if he would like to go this morning to see the Pacquiao fight. We do not spend much time together and I thought it would be a nice way to spend time and do some “Male Bonding”

So this morning he arrived at my house around 8am and we drove down the street a little to a restaurant and hotel featuring the fight. Unfortunately they were full with reservations so we drove to a Bar and Karaoke bar that had the Pay-per-view telecast. It was not full and it cost 400 pesos ($4.25 USD) per person and with the entry you got a tuna salad sandwich and a bottle of iced tea.

They had a large screen projection tv and many seats. The early fights were not that exciting and I felt myself falling asleep.

Then the main event started and at first I thought Pacquiao finally found his fighting match. In the past Manny was doing most of the hitting but in the beginning Hatton sent some nice flurry’s. They did not seam to affect Manny much and then all of a sudden Hatton was on the mat. He quickly got up and Manny was at it again. Then with a few seconds left in round one, Hatton was down again.

Round 2 was the usual until almost the end of the round and Hatton was down again. When the camera zoomed in on Hattons face, his eyes looked like he was not even sure where he was.Pacquiao Hatton Boxing

The Referee commented when he looked at Ricky Hattons face, there was no need to count.

It was reported Manny landed 73 blows to Hatton’s 18, 65 of them power punches, while Hatton only landed with two jabs.

As it goes to show, Manny, who has won 4 titles in 4 divisions will surely be in the records as one, if not the best boxer in history.

As each punch connected, the crowd would cheer and scream. I think my eyes are still ringing.

  3. Dan2vero says:

Yes…it sounds like a great fight, I personally didn’t purchase the fight, because I figured it wouldn’t last long. And I was right…and will get to see it on the internet soon anyways.

    Congrats Manny!!

  4. Vlad says:

I didn’t expect the Manny Pacquiao will finished Ricky Hatton in 2nd round. I thought the fight will last for distance.

Nevertheless, Manny made us proud again.
    Congratulations Manny Pacquiao!

    • Bruce says:

      Vlad,
I do not think anyone thought it would end so fast, especially Ricky Hatton. Many is an Amazing fighter and I expect more wins and maybe a few more weight classes too.

  5. Ray says:

Bruce where is your money changer??? I want to exchange there if I can get 400 pesos for only $4.25 😀

    • Bruce says:

      Ray,
We use our BDO, our bank. I know there are money changers giving better rate but it saves time not having to take out dollars and then travel elsewhere. Safer too.

  6. ceblogger says:

bruce, you can just drive to Gensan and congratulate manny yourself! I think he’s approachable. Saw him here in Manila when his family were in a recreation park.

If not, just meet his mother, and congratulate her for bringing up this man adored by many throughout the world.

    • Bruce says:

      Ceblogger,
I realized after we left GenSan, I never saw her house. If I am ever in GanSan again, I will try.

  7. Anna says:

I saw the news on BBC — BBC commentator quipped that Pacquiao just might be the next president of the Philippines.

    • Bruce says:

      Anna,
There has been talk of this but I do not see it happening. Last election Manny ran for congress and lost.
Even with this, as much of a hero he is to the Philippines I cannot see the Filipinos voting for someone with so little knowledge of politics. Look what happened when they voted an actor. 🙂
One thing in his favor, he might not need to be corrupt since he already has so much money. Another thought, it is safer in the ring than running for politics here.

    Hahahah! Wise words indeed!

    Hi Bruce!
How could you do this to us?????
You watched the pay per view show of others
than ours?It was our fund raising initiative.
for the sustainability of the chidren’s home.
Held at Buffet Palace along Matina Highway.
I even invited you via email and text but haven’t
get any reply at all then only to find out you
were looking for a place that features pay per
view fight of east vs. west!huhuhuhuhuhuhu
But you are now forgiven because i just received
an email from somebody in Belgium who expresses
her interest to help our kids at the Home and that
she discovered that The Field of Dreams Boys need
Help through reading your blog.I thought you’ve
    already forgotten us.But then again…..
Thanks to you Bruce…You are indeed a good friend!

      Lalaine,
I am sorry, it was a last minute decision and we went to a place close since we wanted to catch as much of the show available.
About the Boys home, I always try to pass the word along and help when I can. But you and your board need to get more aggressive in finding fund raising opportunities. You also need a system for Sponsorships. PayPAl would be the easiest.
Say hi to all the boys for me.

  10. What a hero the guy is! Better in everything than his opponent. I wonder if the brit have understood what happened even today. I downloaded the game on sunday morning, very good quality. Next time I go to Gensan I want to at least see where he lives.

    • Bruce says:

      Stefan,
Yes, Manny has become a National Hero. With the fight, I guess the opponents, even if they know how good he is, do not realize the actual speed and strength of his punches. Lets hope they never find out until after he retires.

  11. Janice B. says:

    Hi Bruce!

It was a quick, shocking and amazing fight. All of us were amazed at how quickly it ended – i just went to get something to drink and when I got back – Manny already won! Wow! Hmm.. I wonder… would Mayweather go back to the ring for Pacman? That will surely shake us all with excitement! And I’m sure going to line up for the next PayPerView! LOL!

    Have a great day! 🙂

    -Janice

    • Bruce says:

      Janice,
I heard Mayweather has a fight in July and Manny wants to fight the winner of that match. Next fight have all your needs in the room so you do not miss the fight.

  12. evelyn says:

hi bruce, i’m so sorry that we did not include a tour of pacman’s house in our itinerary..We could have done that but he was not here at that time so we did not bother to include it in our itinerary..next time, we’ll do that..My US employer was able to have a pix taken with him in his house during my employer’s visit to Gensan in 2007..My employer did not know then that he is a popular personality worldwide..when he learned that, he said that pacman is a very humble individual..he felt proud that he had a pix with him..hahahaha

    • Bruce says:

      Evelyn,
Ok, next time, and maybe Manny will be home visiting his family at that time. I have heard how nice he is to all. Good thing everything went into his fists and not his head. 🙂
